Metalux/Evil Moisture Split LP
An essential yet often missed split between a not so odd pair. The Metalux side starts with an uncharacteristic vocal harmony line and then quickly decsends to their more typical disjointed synth patterns, lo-fi drum machines and sparse, warped vocals. The Evil Moisture side is an onslaught of electronics and synth, with a lot of hard panning. At certain times it finds rhythym but much of the time pours wet static in your ears. These recordings compliment each other so well, that if you are not paying attention, you will probably not notice the transition between the two. That is, of course, unless you have to flip the record. This split was released in 2004 by Veglia and is still in print.

Failures
Failures is a super group. If Velvet Revolver was a punk band this would be it. Failures consists of members of Cut The Shit, Cancer Kids, Charles Bronson, and Das Oath. Mark McCoy from Das Oath and Charles Bronson still has that same high pitched voice and bad attitude. The drums are spazzy and rolling. The guitars sound like a faster version of East Bay Ray. Im pretty sure their S/T is sold out. Maybe they'll reprint it. Who knows. Anyway here is their self titled LP.

Brain Killer
Brain Killer are a d-beat band from Boston, Massachusetts. I don't know much about Brain Killer because I have yet to find an official site for this band. They play heavily distorted duel guitars and have drums that roll like a train. They are playing at ABC No Rio June 27 with Nomos (who also fucking rip). If you have the chance you should definitely see them. They currently have a one sided 8" that comes with an cd.

Little Women - "Teeth"
Little Women is a semi-free jazz rock outfit featuring Darius Jones on alto saxophone, Jason Nazary on drums, Travis Laplante on tenor saxophone, and Ben Greenburg on guitar. This EP is full of wailing saxophones, shredding guitars, and disrhythmic drumming. At times it is mathy, other times triumphant but generally it is noisey and discordant. The album climaxes with both saxophone players grunting and yelling through their horns. I had the pleasure of seeing Little Women's last show with Ben Greenburg in which they played this entire EP as their set. It was pretty mindblowing. You can buy it on CD here and on vinyl here.

Insayngel S/T
Insayngel is a collaboration of the rhythm section of Sightings and the guitar and vocals of Visuza. Their sound is that of heavy bass and drums mixed with psyched-out guitars and dreamy delayed vocals. "This LP brings a 30th Century sound to the history of New York City. The locked, wrecked rhythms, desparate, gorgeous wails, and shredded, anxious guitars are symphonic, undulating, impossible. A serious now vision that impressed us deeply enough to be the first LP we've ever done." This recording is available only as an LP from Heavy Tapes and it is limited to 500.

Oiltanker
After seeing Oiltanker at ABC No Rio, they quickly became one of those unnamed bands to look out for. Coming straight out of Hartford Connecticut, Oiltanker play d-beat punk with crust and sludge influences. They have just the right amount of high and low duel vocals in each song to give it a great mix throughout this EP. I highly recomend Oiltanker to fans of Wolfbrigade, Skitsystem, and Disrupt.
Here is thier self titled EP:
